As you can tell from my blog I love the Regency era and many of Thornton's books were written during that time period. I read widely and outside of inspirational fiction, but the Regency has always held me captive. I've learned the art of writing from many writers and Elizabeth Thornton is one of them. I've always loved her covers as well. I'm even hoping to get one that is similar when my series is published, but not many authors have control or much imput to covers at the early stages of publishing.
Do you have a favorite author who has taken you into another world when you desperately needed to escape from this world? Perhaps you were sitting in a hospital room, or hoping to escape your work world for a few minutes or maybe you were relaxing on the beach, or just in your own living room. What authors have you read that have allowed you to escape to somewhere special along with their characters?
I pray that God will greatly comfort Elizabeth Thornton's family and friends.
Thanks for the information, Jillian. At first I thought she was related to Mr. Thornton of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North and South. Do you suppose this was her pen name only?
ReplyDeleteI think I might just go looking for this book. You know my tastes!
Hi Deb!
ReplyDeleteI think you are the first person to visit the blog on my new website. Yippee! I have no idea if Elizabeth Thornton is a pen name. You would also enjoy her series that started with "The Marriage Trap." I think the first of her books I read was "Strangers at Dawn." Enjoy.
Jillian, I love your new website! I followed you over from my blog today, thank you for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your series! It's so exciting to meet authors at this stage of publishing, yeehaa! I'm considering adopting a pen name, too. How did you go about deciding what name to use? Was it excruciating?
I'm sorry to hear about Elizabeth Thornton.

Hi Olivia,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you stopped by. The whole pen name thing is going to be a blog post. Maybe I'll do that this week. It wasn't excruciating, believe it or not, it was fun! But I had to take it very seriously of course because it's the name that's going to be on my books. Stay tuned and I'll get that post up hopefully by Tuesday. I think I'm going to make Tuesday's my regular blog day.
