What's Holding You Back? GLYNNA KAYE for Blog Pick Friday

Friday, January 28, 2011

Glynna Kaye will take you on a journey that I think a lot of us have experienced. If you are unpublished and questions of worth and ability are nagging you, I encourage you to read her post over at Seekerville. Fear can be crippling. I know. I've been there too. Heck, I'm there now as I struggle to complete my second book in a series.

I met Glynna on line when I was in a fearful place related to my daughter's illness. Glynna became a supportive friend to me and my daughter. Fear can sap our life calling. Don't be discouraged. We can get through this together with a little help from a friend called Glynna and our mighty, capable God.

Part 1: FEAR

Glynna Kaye's Steeple Hill Love Inspired “Dreaming of Home” is a 2010 “Carol Award” and “Maggie Award” finalist, as well as a first place winner of the “Booksellers Best” and “Beacon” awards. Her next books(also set in Canyon Springs, Arizona)are “Second Chance Courtship” releasing February 2011, and “At Home In His Heart” debuting August 2011!

  1. Good morning, Jillian! I'm glad my Seekerville post resonated with you, as I hope it will many aspiring writers. We often think when it comes to these deep down fears that it's "just us." But I think the vast majority of us share a lot in common in this realm more often than not -- and God wants to help us deal with those fears.

By the way, I LOVE your beautiful website!

  2. Jill and Glynna, top o' the mornin' t' ya'!

Jill, I agree that the website is wonderfully done

    AND....

I love Glynna to pieces and her post on 'fear' is tangibly wonderful.

Hey, I'm dropping off some cream-filled croissants for you girls. Grab some fresh berries and nestle them into the creamy filling. A taste of summer, midwinter.

  3. Good Morning, Glynna! I know that many of us struggle with one kind of fear or another and it gets scary when we get stuck. Yikes! More fear! I really appreciated what you had to say and as Ruth said, I love you to pieces.:) Even though life prevents me from visiting much. Blessings!

  4. Oh Ruthy,
I am so ready to dig into those yummy croissants. Thanks for dropping them off. And thanks to both of you for complimenting my website. The gang at PulsePoint is responsible for that. Kelli Standish and team really captured what I wanted. Have an awesome weekend.
    Hugs!

  5. Hi, Glynna! It's good to know we all have fears about writing. What I do is ask: what's the worst thing that can happen? If I can deal with that, then I'm okay. Some of the fear goes away. I can't let fear paralzye me because then I can't write. When you have a contract you don't have a choice.

  6. Hi Cara,
Fear has been a stumbling block at times for me. I think part of the problem is setting boundries and not feeling guilty that I can't do everything that others expect. Thanks for visiting.

  7. Hi Jillian and Glynna! Nice that you're getting the word out about Glynna's excellent post on fear. I suspect most authors, if they're honest, have experienced it. Deadlines definitely add stress.

  8. Hi Janet!
So nice of you to stop by for a visit. I'm looking forward to Part II of Glynna's post. And the deadlines are scary for me right now. Ah, if I could only find that perfect balance.

  9. GLYNNA!! Would you believe that I just spoke at a writers' club meeting today and your "Fear" What's Holding You Back blog came up??? Several gals commented on it and one of them was trying to find the blog on her phone to show the others!!

And JILL!!!! Just finished Secrets of the Heart and absolutely LOVED it, girl!! I am SO thrilled to be endorsing it.

    Hugs,
    Julie

  10. Julie Lessman! I love you! Thank you so much for taking the time to read Secrets of the Heart. And an endorsement. Whoo! Whoo! Am I blessed or what? And Glynna I made it through my word count today because I didn't get caught up in my fear syndrome. Yea!

  11. Thanks for stopping by, Cara! I do that "what's the worst thing that could happen," tactic, too. It also helps me prioritize when I have 10 writing-related things that must be done NOW but I can't do them all at the same time.

I currently have your latest release, "LOVE ON ASSIGNMENT" and can't wait to dive in! Now I need to get my pre-order places for Jill's SECRETS OF THE HEART!

  12. Janet -- yes, we ALL know about deadline stress! I'm hoping I'll eventually get the hang of it as the newbie-itis wears off and I can eliminate at least a LITTLE bit of that!

  13. Cool, Julie! Hope it encourages your writer friends!
